Brazil Peacock Bass Fishing by Rod and Gun Resources

Without a doubt, fly fishing for the Amazon’s beautiful, hard-hitting fresh water species is the most exciting sporting opportunity to come along for traveling anglers in many generations. Peacock bass and many other aggressive jungle fish readily attack both top water and sub-surface flies, offering unparalleled action and large numbers of fish. It is common for a peacock bass fly fisherman to catch and release 20-30 fish per day.

Rod & Gun Resources’ staff has been diligently exploring the rivers of the Amazon for more than 20 years and we have developed two distinctly different fly fishing programs primarily targeting peacock bass, but also accessing the many other game fish. The trips to Brazil are primarily for large trophy peacock bass; the program in Bolivia is a true multi-multi species fly adventure for large numbers of peacock bass and other exotic species--payara, surubi, corvina, bacuda, pacu and other unique jungle fish.

We have sent literally thousands of anglers to these countries and have refined the programs particularly for the fly fishing angler.

We work exclusively with outfitters Jorge Molina of Bolivian Adventures/Caño Negro Lodge in Bolivia, and Luis Brown of River Plate Anglers in Brazil. These good friends offer fantastic fly fishing, knowledgeable guides, custom boats, comfortable, air-conditioned accommodations, good food and outstanding service.

Besides the world-class fly fishing, anglers are rewarded with sights of incredible flora and fauna and the opportunity to interact with interesting and generous local people. Due to the fly fishing world’s great interest in these trips, spaces are limited (eight anglers per week) and must be reserved well in advance.
